Best At Home Workouts

Staying active during quarantine is a great way to keep up your energy and spirit. With gyms and fitness studios closed, at home workouts are the new normal. However, when your living room, office, workout space, and bedroom are all within steps of each other, it’s hard to stay focused. Running and walking are great options, but there are tons of awesome indoor routines to try. Below are my tips and tricks to stay motivated as well as my favorite workout classes that have kept me moving.

How to Stay Motivated

  • Schedule your workouts: Whether this is at the start of the week or the night before, thinking about how and when to get moving will keep you on track.

  • List your favorite workouts: I find when I am super unmotivated, going to my list of favorite workouts jumpstarts my mood. This could be specific classes set to great music, or even an easy 15 minute vinyasa flow to get moving.

  • Pick a fun outfit: A cute matching workout outfit does wonders for my motivation. Helps with a cute sweaty selfie after!

On-Demand Workout Apps

Obé Fitness

Details: Free 30 day trial, $27/month at https://www.obefitness.com/

Obé fitness has both live and on-demand workouts, which is a great combination for staying motivated during quarantine. Their classes are broken down into three categories: Sweat, Define, and Flow, each video set to upbeat music led by a NYC fitness professional. I love their classes because they range from Express classes, the signature 28 minute classes, and the #LevelUp 45 minute classes. I am always left sweating and feeling toned. My favorites are the Define sculpt classes and the Express 10 minute cardio dance classes.

Peloton

Details: Free 90 day trial, $13/month at https://www.onepeloton.com/app

The Peloton app is no joke. They have a great mix of live workouts and on-demand options. Their app is the easiest to use and keep track of your workouts . Peloton is known for their stationary bike and treadmill workouts, but the strength and cardio options are top-notch. Ranging from beginner to advanced, and 10 to 90 minutes, there are great workouts for all levels, even with limited equipment. I did a 30 minute strength class this week and was left drenched and feeling super strong. I highly recommend their app and suggest trying the 90 day trial.

The Sculpt Society

Details: Free 14 day trial, $20/month at https://thesculptsociety.com/

Celebrity fitness trainer Megan Roup created The Sculpt Society app to bring her signature dance cardio and toning methods to all. Her workouts are great to burn calories and tone. Dance cardio is a super fun at home workout (if your downstairs neighbors don’t mind!). Easy to follow along and always upbeat, The Sculpt Society will get you fit and moving.

Live Zoom Workouts

Housework by Sydney Miller

Details: $12/class at https://www.sydneyamiller.com/housework-live-stream

This is my favorite live Zoom class. Sydney pairs toning exercises with house music and has a loyal following of regulars in the classes. The live class style felt more motivating because you can see the whole community working hard. Her workouts are always super challenging and she loves to use sliders, which is something new for my fitness routine.

Body by SJ

Details: $10/class at https://www.sjadenyc.com/

Samantha Jade’s signature Body and Abs classes are killer. The first SJ Zoom class that I signed up for was even over-sold due to popularity. Samantha is super motivational and calming. She has a great set up and offers a short focusing message at the beginning and end of class. I preferred the Body class because the Ab class was insanely hard. I liked her choice of music and will definitely sign up again.

Platefit

Details: $15/class at https://platefit.co/livestream/

Platefit streams their workouts on Zoom and Instagram Live and they are a great option for cardio and toning. While not having access to their signature vibrating plates stinks, these Platefit workouts are still challenging. The instructors are energetic and the 30 minute classes are perfect to fit into your lazy at home schedule.
